R. Mark Rogers, Author

Thanks for visiting Economic-Indicators.Com! This site grew out of requests to me by readers of The Handbook of Key Economic Indicators for web links for tracking news on economic indicators and other facets of the current economy. Readers have called or emailed me regarding how to get data to help with some of the more detailed analysis discussed in the book. Experienced professional economists and those working for financial or business organizations generally have an advantage in finding data that students and those working for small firms do not have.

For this latter group, this web site is dedicated toward providing web links for publicly accessible economic and financial reports and data as well as sites for economic news and analysis. For students and those new to the financial and economics professions, I hope these links-along with the Handbook of Key Economic Indicators-help you move a little more rapidly along that career track. I also hope some of these links provide a little intellectual fun along the way.

This web site somewhat follows the strategy of the Handbook--that of several layers of complexity. There are basic sites for economic news and sites for more detailed data. As with the book, sites cover needs of students and casual economy watchers to those of serious researchers.

Beginners have applauded the book sections on how economic indicators should be analyzed for market impact and the simplification of underlying methodologies. More serious researchers have appreciated the detailed references and footnotes. For this latter group, a web page is included for citations for economics papers and publications by topic on methodologies of economic indicators and indicator analysis that have been published since The Handbook of Key Economic Indicators, Second Edition.

Since the First Edition came out in 1994, I have been grateful for the kind words of appreciation from many readers. Based on favorable comments and suggestions, the Second Edition was expanded and improved. As before, The Handbook focuses on providing the detailed information on economic indicator methodologies that cannot be found in similar texts. Thanks again for your vote of confidence by making the Second Edition a success!
